Join us for Days of Action 2025! This 4-day community-wide volunteer event will mark the beginning of our 105th anniversary celebration by bringing together volunteers from across Midland County to work on projects at 21 of our non-profit partner agencies.

Morning and afternoon shifts are available. All are invited to participate - bring your friends, family and coworkers with you to make an impact!

Volunteers will meet at Senior Services' Seasons location to help assemble raised garden beds. Senior Services has all materials provided; volunteers are needed for assembly only. Seasons participants will be using the garden beds for planting a variety of produce and flowers to enjoy. Volunteers should bring tools if able including work gloves, shovels, safety glasses and maybe 5 gallon bucket.

Volunteers will meet at Midland Child Advocacy Center to help deep clean the building, paint, help with weeding, power washing the exterior of the building and light outdoor work. The center will provide all necessary materials.

Volunteers will meet at Midland County ESA’s Sugnet School location to help with groundskeeping. Projects include raking, weeding and general clean up. Volunteers should bring their own rakes, gloves, lawn bags or preferred outdoor equipment.

Volunteers will meet at the Arnold Center to help with indoor and outdoor cleanup. Volunteers will help with the flower beds, yard clean up, and painting outdoors including the sign out front and the curbs. Indoors, volunteers will help sort and organize donations.

Volunteers will meet at the Salvation Army Midland Corps Community Center on Waldo Ave to help with playground refresh and lunch preparation for summer camp. • Playground Refresh: Volunteers will spread new mulch, trim some branches around the fence line, and other groundskeeping. Volunteers should bring shovels, rakes and gardening gloves with them as able • Lunch preparation: Volunteers will work on putting together 100-150 sack lunches for day camp children. This includes making and bagging sandwiches, bagging baby carrots, and adding other food items to the brown paper bags. This will take approximately 5-8 volunteers about 1 hour to complete.

The Food & Clothing Depot is an extension of West Midland Family Center, located about 2 miles down the road from the Center. The Depot provides food, clothing, personal hygiene, and more to our community. Volunteers are needed to help with food distribution. A tour of the Depot will be provided as well. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing!

Volunteers will meet at Disability Network of Mid-Michigan (DNMM) to work with youth with disabilities on interviewing skills. Mock interviews will be conducted with youth ranging from ages 16-26. Questions for mock interviewing will be provided. If a volunteer has experience hiring individuals or running a workplace, they will be encouraged to share some of their experience and tips for the students on finding successful employment. o Please note: Volunteers will be required to undergo background checks and complete documentation with DNMM in order to participate.

Volunteers will meet at Shelterhouse to help with outdoor work. Volunteers will move two 8’x3’ planter boxes to the rear of the building and then assist with outdoor work. Volunteers will help with weeding, window washing, deep cleaning the playground equipment and raking rocks back to the rock beds.

Volunteers will meet at Greater Midland Community Center to help with outdoor work. Volunteers will complete window washing and light groundskeeping. GMCC will provide equipment. Please bring your gloves if you would like them. o We’ll meet in the main lobby -- point out restrooms, drinking fountains, lockers for personal belongings and could offer a quick tour for anyone who has not been in the facility.

Volunteers will meet at Hidden Harvest to help repackage bulk ingredients. Hidden Harvest often gets offered food that is in bulk, however, their partnering hunger relief agencies are not able to take it without it being repackaged into family size portions. Volunteers are advised to wear closed toe shoes, baseball caps (or they have hair nets) and dress for a mess (sometimes it is flour that has to be re-packaged, so it can be very messy). This truly helps Hidden Harvest in putting good food to good use, as it takes something in bulk that no one can use and makes it appealing to all of their partners.

Volunteers should expect to be prepared to do anything from raising walls, installing windows, siding, trim, landscaping and more. Please dress in layers that you are willing to work in and possibly get dirty, closed toed shoes are always required on site. We will provide personal protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, ear protection and hard hats if needed) if you have a favorite pair or work gloves or other PPE feel free to bring your own. Volunteers will help clean up the grounds, stain picnic tables, stain some outdoor structures, rake, trim trees, and bushes. The family center will have the equipment for the event. Expect to get dirty. Bug spray, gloves, eye wear, sunscreen, water and some snacks will be provided. We do get ticks out in our area. We will be working in the bush in some spots.

Volunteers will meet at Big Brothers Big Sisters GLBR Midland office. There are two projects volunteers will help with. The first project is Outdoor Site Spruce Up where 4-6 volunteers will help with leaf cleanup, weed pulling, washing windows. The other project is Mentor Stewardship & Support where 4-6 volunteers will help with writing encouraging notes to our current mentors; writing welcome notes to our new mentors; mentor application packet assembly.

Volunteers are needed to help with the 24th Annual Golf Challenge. Responsibilities could include (but are likely not limited to): registration/ check-in, overseeing the “putting contest,” overseeing the “betting hole,” overseeing the hole-In-one contest, other odds & ends logistical tasks. It would be great if folks feel comfortable driving and/or riding around in a golf cart, but it is not required. Most of the duties will require exchanging of money. • Volunteers are asked to please arrive at the golf course by 7:15am (breakfast is provided for the golfers that the volunteers are also welcome to). The event lasts until 2-3pm. Volunteers do not need to stay to the bitter end, but are welcome to stay for “early dinner” which will be closer to when the event ends. Lunch is also provided to volunteers. • Please wear a black shirt, any bottoms are ok (can be leggings or shorts, does not have to be traditional golf attire), comfortable shoes, and sun protection gear. o Event timeline:  8:00am | Golfer Registration  8:50am | Welcome Remarks  9:00am | Shotgun Start  1:45 – 2:15pm | Golfers finish & gather on deck  2:00 – 3:00pm | Guest speaker & dinner  3:30pm | Event concludes

Light yard work will need to be completed as well. The ROCK will provide all materials needed; however, volunteers should bring tools if able. Tools needed include screw guns, gloves, shovel and rakes.
